Left fielder Luis Gonzalez cracked a homer and had 2 RBI as the Santa Fe
Trailer Bitches beat the struggling Detroit Iron Gloves in 10 innings by a
score of 9 to 8.
The score was tied at 8 after nine. Santa Fe ended up winning it in the 10th
inning. Eric Chavez delivered a one-base hit. Chavez got a great jump and
stole second easily. Mike Lamb then doubled resulting in an exciting win for
Santa Fe and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Detroit
had 15 hits in the game while Santa Fe had 12, but Santa Fe had the more
timely hits.
Mark Hendrickson(4-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings.
Ugueth Urbina(1-4) was tagged with the loss in relief. Shortstop Miguel
Tejada smacked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI in a losing cause for Detroit.
